02 — Our Vision

Kerala has always had the hands. It has never had the house.

The best steel work in this state is done by individuals. A man with a welding set, a reputation earned street by street, and a skill he learned from someone who learned it from someone else. The craft was never the problem.

What has been missing is everything around the craft. Someone who picks up the phone. A drawing agreed before the first cut. A price that still means the same thing in month three. A weld that gets inspected rather than assumed. A name you can walk back to in four years when a hinge finally gives.

Metalligator exists to be that. Not to replace the fabricator — to give the trade a spine. We hold ourselves to the standard people quietly wish they were allowed to ask for, and we do it out in the open: on paper, on time, and under our own name.

We begin in Kannur, because it is where we are from and where being wrong is expensive. What we prove here, we carry outward — district by district — until professional stops being the exception in Kerala steel and simply becomes what the work means.

01

Drawn before it is cut

Every job starts as a drawing you sign off on. Nothing is improvised on site, and nothing surprises you at handover.

02

Finished for this coast

Kerala's air is patient and it eats steel. Sections are sealed, primed and coated for monsoon and salt — not for the showroom.

03

Answerable afterwards

An organisation you can call back, not a number that stops working. The job ends when you are done with it, not when we are.

04

One trade, made whole

Fair rates for the people on the tools, real training, and a standard the whole crew is held to. A company worth working for makes work worth having.

Starting in Kannur. Not staying there.

03 — About Us

Twenty years of Gulf steel, brought home.

Abdul Karim Founder

Metalligator was founded by Abdul Karim, who spent more than twenty years working steel in the Gulf — with NMDC, Drydocks World, CCC and others besides.

Two decades of fabrication and site supervision, held to the standards those yards run on: drawn before it is cut, inspected rather than assumed, and signed off by someone whose name is on it.

That is the bar he came home to set here.

04 — Our Partnership

The other half of the floor.

Metalligator shares its office, its managerial team and its standard with Home Story, an interior design practice working the same district.

That is a deliberate arrangement rather than a referral. Steel and interiors meet constantly — a staircase that has to land in a finished hall, a railing that has to agree with a floor, a frame that has to disappear behind a panel. When those two trades belong to two different companies, the seam between them is where a job goes wrong, and it is also where nobody turns out to be answerable.

Here there is no seam to fall through. One managerial team signs off both, one standard applies to both, and one phone call reaches whichever of them you need.

05 — Questions

The things people ask before they call.

Straight answers, so you know what you are getting into before you spend a phone call finding out.

Which areas do you cover?

The whole of Kannur district. Kannur town, Thalassery, Taliparamba, Payyanur, Mattannur, Kuthuparamba, Panoor, Iritty, Sreekandapuram and everywhere between them. Site visits anywhere in the district are free.

How soon can you come and look at the job?

The same day you call, or the next. We come to you, take the measurements ourselves, and only then give you dates and a plan built around your job rather than a number over the phone.

What materials do you work in?

Steel in all its forms — mild steel and stainless — along with aluminium and glass. Most jobs combine them: a steel frame carrying a glass panel, or an aluminium section finished against a steel rail.

What do you build?

Railings, balconies, gates, grills, pergolas and glass solutions. The work is mostly residential, and we take on industrial jobs as well.

Do you install, or only fabricate?

We install. The job is ours from the first measurement to the last fixing, and there is no second contractor to arrange or coordinate.

How does a job actually start?

A phone call or a WhatsApp message is enough — a measurement, a rough sketch, or just a photograph of the space. We visit, measure, and come back with a drawing and an honest number. Nothing is cut until you have signed that drawing off, so nothing is improvised on site and nothing surprises you at handover.

Will the steel survive the coast?

That is what it is finished for. Kerala’s air is patient and it eats steel, so sections are sealed, primed and coated for monsoon and salt rather than for a showroom.

Who is behind the company?

Abdul Karim, who spent more than twenty years working steel in the Gulf — with NMDC, Drydocks World and others — in fabrication and site supervision, held to the standards those yards run on. That is the bar he came home to set here.
